Back yard hiking

Writer's picture: Matt PhillipsMatt Phillips

We are lucky enough to have a forested area behind our house that is also protected as part of the Montgomery County watershed. The boys like to hike the area, mostly because of the stream lined with an infinite supply of rocks -- for throwing, skipping, and large ones for forging back and forth across the river.

This was high on their list of Camp Daddy events so they were super excited when the day came. We took care of our household chores, packed a lunch, and headed down the steep deer trail into the floor of the forest and came out 2 1/2 hours later exhausted and happy.

We made a video to document our adventure. We hope you enjoy it!
